Continued supply of multi-dwelling designated land in urban areas is critical to improving housing affordability and accommodating population growth in SEQ. Over the last 40 years only 30% of multi-unit ‘zoned’ land has been developed as such, with retention of detached dwellings being more economically favourable to existing owners.
DMA Partners was engaged by the Department of Infrastructure and Planning to develop trial planning and design code for multi-residential apartments with the goal of improving the development economics while retaining street and neighbouring amenity. The new code will be implemented on four sites that the government owns on Ortive Street, Yeerongpilly as a demonstration project. DMA is also running the divestment planning and execution of the project for the government.
