Retail and Mixed-Use
The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct (GCHKP) is a 200 hectare site which has been developed to capitalise on the opportunity to develop an integrated and collaborative location for leading, research, knowledge creation and the commercialisation of newly developed technologies.
The site was utilised for the 2018 Commonwealth Games Athlete’s Village. With the Games now at a close, the re-development of the residential apartments and the make good of the balance of land within the GCHKP has started to drive an increase in the on-site population and a requirement for higher order retail facilities.
DMA Partners was engaged to provide Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) with an independent site review and market assessment to better understand the catchment, current and future population, demand for retail floorspace, gaps in the market and potential target users for the precinct. This included a review of current retail layout and integration with the overall masterplan.
DMA’s market assessment equipped EDQ with a strong understanding of the market and an indication of the supportable retail floorspace at the precinct as the master plan evolves. With multiple ownership within the retail precinct, this document was utilised as input into a broader retail and activation strategy for the precinct.
