Multi-milion-dollar development cost savings led by innovations in fire engineering design and tenancy re-configuration supported the recent successful opening of Woolworths’ Dakabin Shopping Centre.
The re-engineering of the client’s fire and exhaust standards alone realised savings of more than $750,000 and heralded further savings on future projects. More cost savings were found through tight management of the construction program, while the advice of DMA’s retail specialists delivered 17 specialty tenancies, four more than was originally planned.
Despite the challenging COVID-19 retail environment and complex approval requirements, the team delivered a centre which now trades strongly despite the stressed market conditions.
Well done to all project partners involved in the successful delivery of this greenfield neighbourhood shopping centre development.
Stage One opened August 2020 – Woolworths & BWS
